Assists & Enhancements

Assists & Enhancements

For Current Yoga Teachers & Instructors

Have you ever walked through your class wanting to offer more individualized support—but weren’t quite sure what you were seeing, where to place your hands, or whether an assist was actually needed?

Hands-on assists can be a powerful teaching tool, but effective assisting isn’t about moving someone into the “correct” shape. It begins with observation, intention, consent, and understanding.

Assists & Enhancements is a practical, hands-on workshop designed to help you become more confident seeing and supporting the bodies in front of you.

Together, we’ll explore how to observe movement, recognize when support may be useful, and choose between language, demonstration, props, or touch to enhance a student’s experience while respecting their autonomy.

We’ll explore:
✔ Developing your observational skills
✔ Consent, boundaries & respectful touch
✔ Safe and purposeful hands-on assists
✔ Using touch to support—not “correct”
✔ Refining language & verbal cueing
✔ Understanding when not to assist
✔ Building confidence moving through the room
✔ Practicing assists and receiving real-time feedback

Expect an interactive workshop with plenty of opportunities to practice, observe, give, receive, ask questions, and refine your approach.

The goal isn’t to memorize an adjustment for every pose. It’s to develop the knowledge and confidence to ask:

What does this student need from me right now—and is touch the best way to offer it?

Come reconnect with your teaching, refine your skills, and add thoughtful new tools to your teaching toolbox.
